Hi! I’m Urška Podvršič

… an author, psychologist, mother, speaker, course leader, lifelong seeker and learner, and a few other things, exploring life with curiosity, compassion, and a wink of humor.
About
Born in Slovenia nearly five decades ago, I’m deeply grateful for the many experiences that have shaped my life. From exploring parts of the world and venturing into caves to surviving the recession and unknowingly riding one of the ten most dangerous roads on the planet — and, perhaps most profoundly, raising two remarkable daughters — my journey has been anything but dull.
48 years of living it, 20 years of mothering, over a year of preparing, and another year of writing… My book is finally here!

After studying psychology with a focus on animal-assisted therapy, she began working with children and adolescents facing challenging circumstances. Through this work, she became increasingly aware of how systemic inadequacies contributed to their struggles. She recognized that, instead of simply managing the painful outcomes, it was crucial to focus on preventing these problems from arising in the first place.
While raising her own children and experiencing the challenges firsthand, she began questioning what infants, children, and, ultimately, all humans need to truly thrive.
Her journey led her to work with parents through babywearing, which became a gateway to exploring broader aspects of raising children in today’s world. In the process, she became a Die Trageschule babywearing educator. She had the privilege of training women to become consultants across Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia, Romania, and Turkey. This work deepened her understanding of early parenthood, and the inspiring women she had the honor of training touched her deeply.
She observed the rich diversity of parenting approaches and the unique challenges families face in diverse cultural contexts. With this growing insight, her focus shifted to supporting new parents in creating a more nurturing and attuned environment for their children’s growth.
With a deep love for nature, animals, and the rich diversity of people and cultures, she finds inspiration in both the quiet moments in the world around her and the vibrant stories of those she meets.
Attuned to the subtle currents beneath life’s surface, she writes with warmth and insight, exploring the invisible forces that shape inner worlds and relationships. A thoughtful observer and open-hearted explorer, she invites readers into honest conversations about motherhood, who we are, and the shared human need to belong.
